Landing gear

So they changed the spats and gear since the last kit I had. Can someone give me a step by step? You have to mount the spats 1st then insert the gear and attach to the wing? I like it better with the...

No wire struts. Rear block is there to hold wheel pants only.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

As soon as I can figure out how to weld them, it will be. The gear has stainless and aluminum. Does anybody know if there is any kind of welding that will work on dissimilar metals? You need to weld...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Corey,

How long have you been in R/C? I hate to say this but if you don't know the answer about servos and recievers, you are not skilled enough to fly this GEE BEE. Yes you can use JR servos in...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

I'm using JR DS821's on all the flight serfaces and a JR standard for the throttle.

After looking at my landing gear, decided to have them mig welded at the top (to keep the U from turning) and...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

I'm sure the cars driving by the nearby road would have appreciated an out of control maiden flight. The people in those houses are very lucky this is such an great kit that the GeeBee flies well....

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

You really want as much prop as you can. That big cowl blocks so much of the prop surface, you are just using the tips. I am running an APC 18x8 on my OS160. Flies great but still is not what I would...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

1st thing, take a dremel and grind away alot of the fiberglass and make the wheel opening much larger than your wheels. 2nd, replace the foam wheels with the dubro 4-1/2" low bounce wheels. 3rd, use...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

I am using the Dubro 4-1/2" lite wheels, nice and solid on landing. Sorry for the delay in my pictures, hopefully I will get them on this weekend.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

I am not home this weekend, will take pictures next week. I made functional flying wires and reinforced fiberglass and attatched to each side of wheel pants and wing. Then I adjust to keep the pants...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

No, at the base of the fork, there should be 1 or 2 set screws to keep the 4mm screw from turning.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

The reason it is hard to loosen is because there are 2 small set screws. Loosen them up 1st before loosening up the 4mm screw. The gear is not real strong aluminum, mine bent on one particular hard...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Be careful, that bolt has turned out to be my weak link in my landing gear. Even though there are 2 set screws, the U continues to turn on any landing that is less than perfect. I have retightened a...

Perfect day here in New England, no wind. Flew my GeeBee today. OS 160 running perfect and pulls real nice with the APC 18x6W. Still makes me nervous to land but you just have to keep some power on...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

My battery is behind the pilot, so every install is different. Move battery around to get balance point, then figure out a way to mount it.

It's not that it offends, it just doesn't have anything to do with the thread and just fills the thread up with meaningless posts. The is one of the biggest reasons people ask the same questions over...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

There is NO tail wire bracing on this model. The flying wires are on the forward edge of the wing and go to the landing gear. Look at the directions, as bad as they are.

Just take of the clevis from one end of the pushrod, pull it out and replace with a 256 rod.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Yes, read previous posts. I reworked plane and replaced all supplied hardware. 2mm pushrods are not strong enough.
