RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Google "HTS 2000". It might be the answer to all your aluminum welding needs, and it uses only a hand torch.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Hey Row: I hear you man. After the last Olympics and the nitro shortage, I vowed to convert to gas for all my machines except the helis which I will eventually do. Your point though is well...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

You are going to kick yourself if you don't get a gasser for the plane. The extra dollars spent on the gas engine will be recouped several times over in the money you spend on nitro. Not to mention...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

In the photo are the original foam tires that came with the kit, but I purchased some 3.5" chromes from TBM that I will be mounting.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

PSJDBF : when the plane stalls, it should be just inches off the ground. Even better though, fly the mains to the runway, cut throttle and let the speed bleed until the tail wants to drop. Just be...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Well said, as you must learn to fly the plane to the landing surface using throttle control. The good news is that, once you learn to land the Gee Bee, all other landings are cake.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Had a temporary glitch with MLD-28 engine. I would start engine and immediately loose binding to Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHZ receiver.
After some research here at rcuniverse, I discovered that the...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Pretty much done now. Added painted on rivets, as I think it gives the Z its character.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Place decals on the Z prior to dinner. I am delighted with the MLD-28 engine. I have ran several tanks through her now and she is cranking out the power. The Z is...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

The wheel pants are simply screwed and glued. One half of the pant has plywood glued to it so that it is secured with strap and screws. Its mate is then glued in place.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

More pictures of project. I reinforced the landing gear with copper wire and solder. So far, the only part of this plane I do not like are the foam wheels. I may get some rubber wheels prior to...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Got some more work done on the MLD-28 Z. In the pictures you'll note that I tooth pick in Dubro hinges. I never have trusted one of my babies to the quick hinge material. Also as a habit, I glass...

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z

Sorry for your loss. I am just starting to build mine. It is a great kit, though I was disappointed in seeing the damaged wheel pants.
I have fitted an MLD-28 to the front and at this time I...
