RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Semi-Flat wing bottom.  A ton of lift with that one. Real pretty bird.  Tough deciding between the Red and the Yellow!<div>

<div>I thought about it.  Looked around for quite a while, thought I was going to get the RC Guys Decathlon, but in the end decided THIS is exactly what I was looking for.  It's already been shipped...

Hey guys, help JJ out here.  Check in your local stores for one, maybe we can help find one out there.  I know a guy in Maine who gives good deals and ships, I'll check with him.<div>...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Don't forget to factor in weight shift.  If you need weight up front, move it forward.  if you will be needing to add lead to the tail, then hollow out the nose for the carb and tuck it back a...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Funny you should mention that. I'm always torn between doing that and keeping the tail of these old classics light enough to "fly" when they are rolling out on takeoff or upon touching down. I...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Kind of overkill for that plane.  It could fly on a .91 if it had to.  A 1.60 to a 1.80 are around/above the 30CC range in a gasser.<div>
</div><div>Lots of power, though. Jeesh. That'd be one scary...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I bought the GeeBee Y from Dick some years ago. He does good work.
<div>
I'd like to have that T-craft, but ramming the road for several days to pick up another plane is just a bit too much for me...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

From what I'm reading, weight-wise it would be a good match. I don't know about the size. One of the guys just removed his pilot to make his balance, so I'm guessing the extra weight of the 26...

I've worked at it for a while. But I give up, mate. I need a translation! :^)

Sorry to hear that, Zippi. I was hoping you'd get it straightened out without having to do that.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Thanks, Zippi,

That was a nice video. The engine is sounding pretty good there. Sometimes when I'm breaking one in I take it out the field when nobody is around, tie it to a tree and run a few...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I too don't know what the "glazing" is that you're talking about. Could you let us know what that is?

Thanks

Jimbo

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

It's all about "feeling" the plane through your sticks...you can feel heaviness. I've also found that many folks on high-wing planes will trim the plane so that it flies with the nose climbing...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Absolutely correct! Once you make it a rule in your mind you just DO it all the time and very quickly you forget you're even doing it. When things get dicey up there, it makes the difference...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Nice Looking plane.

Jimbo

When coming towards you, rightside up or upside down, the low wing gets the stick. That's the LAW, and it never changes, EVER.
