RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hey leedees, glad to see your still on planet earth. You know I just thought about all that was said and what a smart decision you have made. If you open it up a bit and the problems get worse or...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Sorry, in that last sentence I meant no wonder the "baffles" block of most of the holes in the cowl.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi Ya, its all pretty interesting and nice to hear other peoples perspective. I find these forums a great way to learn as I fly by myself and have only been in the game for about 12 months. Ive...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Now I get it, you know I dont remember seeing anything about that in the instructions....Maybe Leedees missed that one too.  So aside from performance problems with your motor which could be caused...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

AA5BY, I have just reread one of your previous statements to understand this a bit better. So if the motor area / carby is under positive pressure because the induced airflow is too great or the exit...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

For a motor that was designed for industrial applications it seems the old Zenoah is a bit sensitive. Maybe we should just convert to whipper snipper motors.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

AA5by, I get what your saying but I am surprised that increased air pressure in that region affects the fuel mixture.  Woulden't that mean that the issue would be at its worst when in flight and at...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Boy, and I thought it was just a cowl. Sounds more like a specialised piece of equipment for the space shuttle.  Why would this area be so sensitive to airflow when its only a g20 in there ?? Thats a...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hey Leedees, you did well by narrowing down the list of problems by running without a cowl and the motor being okay. I guess everyones in the dark a bit but given what CRG has said maybe you could...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

The plane seems designed for the G20 in mind. Engine mount markings, engine spacing from the firewall, fit to cowl etc. and instructions that refer to that setup. I wished I had gone that way rather...

ya33a, man if you ever crash this plane its going to be the best dressed pilot to ever bite the dust.  Have you thought about building the plane, or is the pilot the fascination. :D

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

No I ditched the baffles, they looked crappy when I installed them and I noticed a lot of pics of tcraft on the net without them so I pulled  them back out. I also found I had access to the choke...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I guess this is where a technical department for Hangar 9 would come in handy. I had to trim out a fair bit of cowl underneath around the cylinder head with the g26. I probably inadvertantly resolved...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi Old Fart,  just checked out the sting on the net. It seems to be a smaller electric version of the Austars one.  It calls for a 26cc engine  and is a good size. Im surprised there isnt more on the...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hey Damon, when i built mine with the 26 I cut the original standoffs back to about 11mm if my memory serves me right. The only trouble was that it brings the back of the motor a lot closer to the...
