RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I am on my 3rd season with my T'craft powered by an OS 160 twin and mine flies absolutely gorgeous. I can fly it scale or hot dog within reason with no nose high tendencies; balance is 1/8 behind...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

It appears that it is the same size as the arf T'craft, just a lot more expensive, nearly triple the price.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I'm running an OS 160 twin in mine with a Xoar 18x6 prop and spinner cut by TruTurn to fit. Bye the way have over 100 flights on mine and still lovin' it.

Les-

I would stay with the 160 twin, mods to cowling are minimal and I get 8700 rpm on 18x6.

I agree, you can't beat the sound of a four stroke, especially a twin. Mine is powered by an OS 160 twin and it flies great.

5Blue-

Just how big of a bolt do you need to fly it? I have 10 flights on mine and thoroughly enjoy it, almost the best thing since sliced bread and canned beer.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

You mmay want to look at the Graupner 16-8 prop, no drilling required and it has a nice wide paddle blade. My OS 160 loves it.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Out of curiosity what did you about cooling the twin? Did you use the stock tank? The usual list of questions.

Thanks,

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

When mounting the twin be cautious of the engine centre line marks on the firewall. The allow for right thrust and the engine does favour the port side of the fuselage. Plan mounting it carefully,...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

What are the markings on the vertical stabilizer? I can see where one is the N number but can not make out the other one.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Randy-

I have installed an OS 160 twin in mine and only had to make carb cutout for priming and two cutouts for the exhaust. The Saito is narrower than the OS by 1mm, is slightly longer. To...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Took TC to flying field today and got in 5 good flights. All throws and cg were per manual, the 160 twin ran great with good idle and top end. Weather was 90+ with 10-15 mph winds. TC flew as if it...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Lee-

Read the comments, and can truly understand why they are ducting that way. You do need to get air moving around the cylinder and out the back. My intaketo exhaust ratio is 1:4.5 which I...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

My reasoning for not doing anything with the cut outs is each cylinder is in a direct line with them. The left cylinder is approx 3/4" from cutout andright cylinder is approx 1 1/2". Wanted to get...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Gentleman-

I have read quite a few of the posts and have yet to see one where someone has powered the Tcraft with an OS 160 twin. Mine is complete and ready to fly just need to run engine and...
