RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Zippy, you did get me on that one. My goal was to make it cleaner than yours since we both have the DLE 30. You whoooped me when you had Ralph make that prop extension. In hindsight I wouldn't mind...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

My struts broke on the first flight also. I contacted Horizon and they told me that I couldn't get the parts seperately but I could buy a whole parts bag. I told them that they must have...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Zippi, that is the same spinner I used. I'm surprised you are going to have to add weight. After all I have both of my tanks further back. It seems that some of these babies are just tail heavy.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I'm not sure what you mean, I can't even stand on my head. The mount consisted of three basic elements. Extend center lines, measure and drill. Glue blind nuts to fingertip and install. Mount the...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Maybe you can get Jtec to make the muffler out of lead:D. I always figured if I needed weight in the nose I might as well put in a bigger engine;) hence the DLE baby.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I don't know about hovering it but maybe. I am only spinning an 18X6 right now for break in and it definetely needs more prop. I have a 20X6 Xoar that I may try on it after a gallon or so of fuel....

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Okay guys the maiden is over. I am happy to say it was very successful. She flies great, the smoke works great, rolls, loops, and knife edge are all easy and great fun. Especially with the smoke, the...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I wish I would have gone this morning. Instead at around 11:00 last night I decided to do a power build on a Ultra Stick 40 with a YS AR61 two stroke with a pipe. We have a big event a the field...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Well that sucks. I had a 2 1/2" Tru Turn in the package so I spent a couple of hours last night cutting it up and fortunately it turned out good. I am please especially since it's a 18X6 Biela...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I'm going to drill a small hole and put a rubber grommet in it then run a small control rod through it. Strictly manual here. I already made her heavy enough by adding smoke. It will be worth it...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Amen! Thats the only thing I have left to do on mine. I might just screw it down. However I do have SMOKE! She weighs 15 lbs. 9 oz complete. I hope this engine will give me what I want.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Well there are two reasons I set the tanks up like that. The first being that if I would have put the one up front it would have made it a bit more difficult to plumb the smoke lines and second I try...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I think it's around 38 oz. or so. Pretty light for the power it produces.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Yeah that bothers me to actually but a friend of mine has some of that header wrap and I am just going to put a small piece of that over the module. I haven't checked CG yet but i'll do that today. I...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Going to have to go with smoke. I'm going to tint the bottom windows and put a piece of 1/8 ply over the top of the tanks. I just couldn't bring myself to put the gay pilot in there. I am at 11...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

The prop is a Biela Carbon. I wish it was a 18X8 rather than an 18X6. If nothing else I have a Xoar 18X8 and a Mejzlik 18X10. I just don't want to drill all my props and not like the way they run....
