Hi Guys,

Long time no chat here.
I still have my Hangar 9 Taylorcraft, it's become a real hangar queen with the Saito engine being cantankerous, anyway a little while ago I stumbled across this...

Hi Chris,

I have a 4 stroke and it gets hot, I cut holes in the side vents using a dremmel and skinny wheel - didn't make much difference, so I moved the muffler and opened up the cowl to let...

Hi Guys,

Long time...

My Taylorcraft is looking a little bit on the tired side, as the windscreen / Windshield has gone a dull yellow - from being stored at the top of the shed near the roof...

Hi Jimmy,
I use Futaba and HiTec on mine not the BNF version, I was having 'glitches' when I had the servos in another plane when I had aileron and rudder mixing, I had them set up with too much...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

The changes would be pretty simple I think, unscrew the tail wheel... (Duh..).. Then cut an angle on the rudder so it doesn't strike the ground on landing.

The main change is to remove the main...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi Guys,

Been quiet on this site for a little while so I thought I'd spice things up with a couple of ideas.

First I'm thinking of fitting my Saito 50cc Radial R325 to my Taylorcraft, just...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi,
Yes the FG20 works well, more scale than 3D, the FG21 is an upgrade on the 20 with a few improvements and should be fine. You need to keep momentum up and 'fly' the plane you can't just point...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Pick the plane up by the cross brace with the roof off, the tail should be level and the prop vertical, it's almost at the balance point, maybe very slightly nose heavy, but a good place to start,...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi,

Here are the baffles and cutouts I made to help with cooling, I could have mounted the engine - side winder style but I wanted the primary balance a little easier to adjust.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi,

You have to be careful that you don't open the front up too much, I put shaped baffles in the front of mine, (photos on the forum) but also opened up the side grills to let out more air,...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

It sounds like you have a real bargain there, the 'original' had some other differences other than the 1 piece wing - which is not a bad thing, the wing is longer, I believe, the fuselage is stronger...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi,

A 150 is around 24cc, and running on glo fuel, it will have abundant power for sports flying, there is a youtube video of a Saito 125 - 4 stroke and the plane is performing all the tricks...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi,

Yes, it flies like a highwing plane, it doesn't like the 'yank and bank' style of flying, it loves stall turns and barrel rolls nicely, to loop it you gain height then push the nose over and...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi,

There is a youtube video of a DLE20 powered Taylorcraft, it flies pretty much as mine does, just sounds different. It just flies like a big fat trainer that looks fantastic.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Very neat installation of the DL20, I noticed tht you have a cable tie on the shielded plug lead from the ignition box, be careful as the vibrations cause the plastic tie to wear through the...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi,

Yes, it flew a couple of times at Logan City, I took it to Tingalpa a couple of times early on but had radio glitches, - the Futaba 36Meg and Saito FG20 don't seem to like each other much,...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Hi Fulcrum,

I spent the day doing a 100 hr service of the TC, - it's amazing how much the vibrations from the engine can loosen all the nuts, bolts and screws, with the heat from the roof of the...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

I found this on the web, the 'Original' Taylorcraft, they also did another design at some stage, the price is a little expensive, but if you want spares for the original 85" TC then get in...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Is the float fly at Table Top behind the Ettamoga Pub? Because the old man said the weir is about 85% full at the moment and they had snow again early last week at Hotham, so by the...

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft

Straight out of the manual, it's basically the plane hangs horizontal (Tailplane level, nose level, prop vertical) when you pick it up by the pipe which supports the wing tube, (keep...
