RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Thanks Mark for making the effort to Take the Pictures. They help me relive a very happy carefree period of my life.
If Duane brings the model to Kickapoo, we will need to find a Hassalbld(sp) 2.25...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Hi Mark
you did a great job on the pics. I think the center pic is very close to the spot where the pic of Kaz with the Simula was taken. Its hard to believe its been 50 years since I was last...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

There's not much that I can add to what Hook57 stated. I lived on the northside of
Chicago and flew at Kickapoo Woods only a few times. Most of my contact with Kaz was via 6mtr. Ham radio,...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

I think his name was spelled Myers not Meyers. My memory is hazy after all the intervening years.

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

I have looked at the files of the Meyer plan provided by Duane. Obviously there is nothing on the drawing that confirms that it was intended to be used for manufacturing the kit but again there is...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

From what I can remember from that period and I have to say it is hazy at times, Frank Meyers was a modeler who worked freelance doing drafting work on model airplanes plans for kit manufactures like...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Hi Mark

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

I am sure that those pictures were taken at Kickapoo Woods Forest Preserve south of Chicago. It was home to the RC club Kaz was a member of. I recognize the building showing behind Ed's head.The...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

IMHO the Fox .59 was a fairly good engine, certainly much more powerful than the K&B 45 which many fliers were using during that era. I did not fly the RC version of the Fox 59 but did fly a C/L...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Hi Duane

I vote for the Supertigre being the engine in your picture. The Fox engine had a more rounded head and a glow plug on the left side. I just don't ever remember seeing one of the Fox...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Duane
MY ST 56 from 1964 has a throttle arm for the servo connection on both sides of the carb. Ed may have decided to use the arm on the right side of the fuse because of the throttle servo...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

I weighed my 1964 ST 56 today. 0.88 lbs (0.40 kg.). Does anyone have the weights of the Veco 45 and K&B 45 for comparison purposes.

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

It is very possible, even likely that Ed built two Taurus’ at the same time. There is a precedent for this. When he built the original Orion’s he built two of them at the same time. Actually 3...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

In my opinion, the rod shown in the photo located close to the wing is a push-pull rod for steering the nose wheel. The end is close to where servos would be mounted and it is low in the fuse which...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

I can confirm that the Transmite servos which were designed for use with relayless reed receivers, did have a transistorized amplifier in the case. I may still have some parts from one in my shop.

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

F&N was the name of Les' business. It started with wheels for RC models based on medical pessaries.

F&M was a radio system manufacturer.

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

The phone # looks like the early formatt with a combination of letters and numbers. Read it as TO and not T zero. Translates to 862-7513.

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Ed did build more than one airframe at a time. I was in his workshop for a meeting and seen several airframes under construction.
