RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Kevin,

Thank you for the tip about airfieldmodels. I followed the link to his source of magnets (http://www.magnetsource.com/airfieldmodels/) and ordered 100 assemblies for $55.00 plus shipping....

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Duane,

The table is bloody beautiful!

One of these days, I too ...

In the meantime, I've ordered some cut-to-size 20-gauge steel plate from a local shop, and I'll steal Kevin's idea of...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Thank you!

Cheers,
Richard

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Duane,

Thank you. Have sent a message to Kevin. (I suspect he used TnT, since they are the only ones I found who have 1-inch O.D. carbon composite tube.)

The kit includes a 1-inch O.D....

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Many thanks. Now I just have to find from where it came. Neither ACP nor CST list it.

Actually, having just started the build, there are several items and tools I'll need to find and buy.

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Duane,

Did you write earlier that you had used a carbon composite wing tube, and that it was 1 inch in outside diameter, instead of the 7/8-inch aluminum tube in the kit?

Thank you,

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

According to the O.S. site, several engines, including the FS120 and the 120AX, share the same OS motor mount. This Dave Brown mount was shown in the information for the FS120:

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

And another big ditto on the commentary. I was on break from boarding school and at home in Germany at the first moon landing. My parents bought a small black-and-white TV just to watch it. Set it up...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Jeff mentioned that Kevin got his Simla down to a super-low weight. Incorporating some of his tips and tricks into the build thread would, I believe, be a big plus.

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Duane,

Definitely count me in for a build thread. I was thinking of starting one, but I suspect I'd have more questions than answers.

Richard

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

I recently received one of the first kits from Jeff. Everything looks perfect and I have to say that he didn't charge enough for what he's supplied. I expect to be able to start within the next day...
