Most likely, if memory serves, after the 1963 worlds, and taken at the Lichtenstein club. Bloke flicking the prop looks like Fritz Bosch. The model have been Matt snr's...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

No Joe, as an aerobatic aircraft, it does not 'fly perfect'. That big blunt airfoil is cambered, so inverted need a bit of elevator pushed in, knife edge is not easy, the fin/rudder is less effective...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

That looks about right Joe. I now add the scabs, i made mine 1/16 sheet about 1/2 inch wide, and the full width between the ribs. Cut the tapered sheeting and glue with a sandable glue (not cyano) to...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

OK, the trailing edge tabs should give you a straight wing, as for the spar joins...well. there's the easy way, and my way...! The easy way is to do a quick top and bottom drawing of the front view...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Joe, to build it this way you need the trailing edge jig. There is no dihedral brace shown on the plan, if it's a kit copy, cause it was a diecut. The MAN one will show them, but they are balsa and...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Joe, the vertical bit of wood alongside the spars is the dihedral brace, top and bottom. You have to notch the centre ribs accordingly. I made mine from ply, and extended them out to the third rib on...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Both my models were built without the tabs. I used a tapered block under the trailing edge and rested the wing on the lower spar. Cut right the tapered T/E block (1/4 sheet) maintains the rib...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Joe, the little block is a tab on the rib to maintain wing alignment while you add the pre-moulded leading edge. If you are ok with it you can leave it off and align the wing with the mainspar and...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Yes. I have both the PCM and TF/MAN versions, built from the plans and just cutting the sides as drawn there appears to be no problem with wing/tail angles. Both models are superb fun airplanes.

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Though, looking at Ed's model, it looks like he simply raised the wing another 1/4 inch, and matched the fuselage underside to fit. Really simple.

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Uncle willies plan will be the same as the top flite/MAN plan. They are the same, other than the MAN plan having the ribs all drawn. There is a plan, if you can find it, for the PCM version. There...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

OK pt19 flyer...the plan shown here is the first successful Taurus, the PCM (Prototype Contest Model) from 1961. The next Taurus we see is Ed's 1962 Nats version which is one inch longer and has a...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Bo, back then Bonner didn't make a Tx. It was not unusual for the R/C manufacturers to make a Tx/Rx system and let you wire up whatever servos you wanted. Bonners were the 'Rolls Royce' of servos...

Yeah, I have the Aeromodeller write-up of the event, but the photos are too poor to reproduce. The MA I do not have.

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

The 'overseas mag' and Myers plan are dimensionally identical. The magazine one was developed from the Myers plan. All in the Taurus thread. Ed's 1962 Nats/'63 WC Taurus is not the same as the kit...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

I'm pretty sure that snaps did not figure in FAI pattern until quite some time after the 60's. Simla was likely never designed for a pattern that included snap (Stalled) figures. Asking it to do them...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Another small point, the wheels are not shiney, and retained by one of those ugly collets. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Ed solder his shiney hubbed wheels on? Duane?

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

Certainly looks like the centre of the fuselage has been extensivley modified. The fillets probably fitted after the wing dowels were removed and the bolt-on fittings added. There should be signs...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

I must apologise, I have no idea where 'May' crept in, old age and decreptitude. But it still shows that there were a lot of Taurus built in the year before the kit became available. You won't see...
