RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

I would say that is a modified (squared off wing tips) Astro Hog.

These from June and July 1962 Aeromodellers. Nothing really new but might as well post them here.

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

My view that Ed did not "enter" the 1963 Nats is based on the competitor list published in the November 1963 issue of RCM. This lists every entrant - all 160 of them - in all the R/C classes and...

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

I don't yet see anything to connect it directly to Ed - best thing would be to try and talk to Mr XXXXX the "longtime chicagoland resident and previous owner" to find out more of the model's history....

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus

This short article from RCM&E October 1960 describes at least one trip Ed made to Germany. This was after the WCs held at Dubendorf, Switzerland 23rd- 24th July 1960 which of course Ed won with the...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

I don't see how. There is a British United sign on the wall and since they didn't fly to the USA why would they have an office there. It must have been taken in England or, perhaps, Rhodesia.

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

1962 US Nats were held at Glenview Naval Air Station, Illinois from July 23rd until July 29th.

No. ( Reb, Skydancer, Uproar) No competitor flew a Taurus.

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

As far as I know BUA never had a transatlantic service so Ed must have flown the Chicago/London leg on another airline. BUA operated mainly from the UK into Europe and Africa so the shot was...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

That's fine by me as long as my character is played by Clint Eastwood in the Hollywood version ;)

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Ah yes, Monte Malherbe. Member of the South African team at the 1962 & 1963 WCs and their Team Manager at the 1965 event. Flew a Stormer in '62 and a Taurus in '63. Placed 6th and 16th...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Sounds like a good compromise Duane - hope you both enjoy your meal and maybe have a glass or two of Bushmills on me.

As to the photograph - perhaps I'll have my "important friends" discuss that...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Although not strictly relevant to this thread, I thought I would post this shot of Ed from the 1960 WCs as it shows the Orbit TX he used. I assume the "K9LFR" written on it is his amateur radio...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Here's an interesting shot I came across in the 1962 MAN Annual. Seems to be the Orion/Taurus link design (the "Flop") mentioned in an earlier post in this thread. Sorry about the ugly line down the...

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus

Chris,

I think you may be referring to the "Brazen Raven" by Dave Gierke. Published in May 1971 Flying Models. Or was there an earlier version?

Bit more Super Delphin info. Dennis Hammant (UK) also flew a large model called King Spectre at the !967 WCs.
