If no one else pops in here to help you out, PM rcu member DRibbe (David Ribbe) He has about the most knowledge for these engines then anyone I have met, he has had one in a BVM F-16 for years, and it keeps going & going & going.

Ed,
Here is an informative link on the tear down of the Sophia 450, as well as the 850. Also shows differnces between the two.

RE: Sophia J-450 need parts and some help
Ed,
I have had several Sophia J450 and have spent a fortune in having them
repaired. They are different than the KJ engines and only a few people
can service them correctly. The best place to get parts is from Sophia,
but they are going to cost you. Sophia will repair your engine but the
cost is not justifiable. I have gotten rid, junked, all except my Sophia
J850 and when that stops working, I will junk it also. Your best bet is
to get a Jetcat or other turbine and start enjoying flying jets.
If anyone has a temperature sensor and front cover for the Sophia
J850 that they are willing to part with, let me know.
