So without getting to far into the gyro debate understand pilots all have different preference's when it comes to gyros. Some love one and some love another. So here is my opinion on the gyros I have used.
I started out years ago using the eagle tree gyro. It worked great and was a big step up from nothing. Next I tried the PB 3E and the cortex. I never liked the feel of the 3E but I loved the cortex. I have also done a test flight on a guys plane and I think he had the A8. I have also used the spektrum gyro and have one installed in a plane in my hanger along with several cortexes still and sold the one 3E with a plane. These where all very good gyros and where a big step up from the eagle tree. This new gyro was like taking another leap into a whole new category of gyros. Its jot just a little better. Its in a class of its own.
To me a good gyro is one that you don't notice its their unless you turn it off. This one feels like that. I turned it off for a few laps to see how much work it was doing and to check the CG and was blown away how much work it was doing. Its a whole different aircraft with it on or off. Its also nice not having to think about gyro gain and having it all automatic.
starting from the best in my opinion
1 AR integrated gyro ( in a class of its own)
2 Cortex pro Still love the cortex
3 Cortex
4 Flex A8
5 Spektrum
6 3E I gyro ( I know allot of people love this gyro and it works great for them. I have flown it on 3 different planes and I personally don't like it.)
7 eagle tree ( a very good starter gyro)
I know some will get but hurt because gyro threads are like radio threads but THIS IS MY OPINION PERIOD. That being said very happy

Just ordered a T1 Jet the other day, now looking for a power and gyro set up. I was going with a Powerbox Mercury SRS, but the heard from Lior about this new AR Unit.
I starded searching for more info about it via google, and came across this thread. I only read good things so far.
Can you tell me y you like this gyro more than the igyro in the Mercury? Does the AR gyro also have a heading hold mode?
Thanks Rolf

ive flown HH on several different gyros, its a disaster in my opinion.
a good rate gyro is all you need to enjoy your model, it doesnt interfere with flying, it just smoothes out the bumps that may occur in flight.
would be happy to answer any other questions you may have.
Lior.

The AR gyro does not have heading hold. nor would you ever want to use one.

Ok, I have my unit but it's only receiving channels 1-10. After that nothing on the imput monitor screen. Using DX20, the same program I flew with last year. And same satellites that came with the 20ch rec. Spk9645
Ideas?

Mine is the Spektrum only version.
since the AR is so capable, I can mix and adjust both elevators and flaps with one input each.so that saves me the 2 channels.
I just want to make sure the unit is working properly. Probably a setting somewhere.

Have my ar on jeti, dual path with 2 r3 receivers.dual aileron, single elevator, single rudder. Ar automatically assigns input channel 2 to outputs s01,02,03,04 which is one of the ailerons. Input channel 1 is throttle which is assigned to output channel 8. I don’t need 4 ailerons so I turned off s01,03 and 04 and I wanted to assign output 1 to throttle which I did and the throttle works on that channel but the problem is throttle also controls output channel 2 even though the screen shows channel 2 is controlled by input channel 2. Aileron input will not control output 2. I have done a reset twice with the same results. I was just trying to match all of the input channels with the same output channels because I wanted to. Any ideas

Hi Gary,
Yes, we do output telemetry to the Jeti radio so you will be able to see the battery telemetry.
The remote RC switch will work with the Smoothflite, however there is a wiring change required.
I would have to contact the jeti distributor here in Aus as he used one in his setup.
cheers
Brendan

Can you provide some more info on how to use the RC remote switch with the Jeti system. Is the wiring change internal or user done or is it a factory change? I'm looking at putting a Smoothflight in my next jet.
Thanks,
Gary

I finally had a day to spend programming and configuring my AR smooth flite receiver.....quite possibly the easiest setup I’ve done in a while. Gyro / sequencer / and the usual servo setup stuff was an absolute breeze. Can not wait to install in my F4 and future projects.
Set up your jet in your transmitter per usual configuration ( dual ail / rudder / elevator etc ) and then use the AR touch screen to choose where you want everything to go. I kept a notepad handy to verify where things were going but it’s all on the screen and with more familiarity will be unnecessary. The auto gain control gyro was my primary motivation to purchase, in addition to the multiple sequencer feature ( should come in handy on subsequent project )
so so far impressed and excited to finally wrap up install on a long overdue project.
Cheers
